Evans Memorial has a small but current Information Systems department providing service to the hospital, nursing home, physician practices, & all its' surrounding buildings. The department serves about 350 active users within the organization.
Evans Memorial Information Systems department runs CPSI as the its' HIS (Health Information System) and runs American Healthtech for it's long term care facility. We run a 4500 series Sonicwall with a DMZ for a firewall in conjunction with Barracuda Spam Filter & a Barracuda for Web filtration and Network traffic monitoring. Cisco 4500 series multi-layer switches serve as our backbone with Gigabyte speeds. Off site buildings are all connected with Fiber with the exception of the nursing home which is a point-to-point T1. Internet is provided with a 20mb fiber connection. Microsoft Exchange serves as our email server. We also run multiple other servers to handle various hospital functions. IP telephony has been integrated with the network recently with an upgraded phone system as well as voicemail & faxing directly to the pc using unified fax & unified messaging.
Interactive intranet was developed for servicing the staff of Evans Memorial. Our ever-changing web site is also maintained by this department. Secure VPN access is also available for remote staff access. We run wireless with WPA security internally by means of Cisco Aironet Access Points. We also offer a wireless guest network for visitors. Backups are disk based using a 6tb NAS device to eliminate expensive media cost. We have several servers running in a virtual environment using VMware and Hyper-V which helps in reducing the cost of expensive hardware.
We provide help desk support and remote assistance for EMH staff & physicians. Various software training is available through the Intranet as well as a virtual news center, MSDS sheets, policy & procedures, on-line forms, phone directory, PACS access, email access, work order systems for Maintenance, Biomed, & Information Systems, & a multitude of other options and links.
The department provides 24 hour on call support 7 days a week. We are constantly evolving to meet HIPAA & Meaningful Use requirements and meet the needs of the organization.
